Scotty McCreery (born October 9, 1993) is an American singer from Garner, North Carolina. McCreery is currently a Top 13 finalist on the tenth season of American Idol. McCreery was born in 1993 and grew up in Garner, North Carolina. He used to impersonate Elvis as a youngster, and started learning guitar at ten.He sang at his West Lake Middle School graduation, and also attended Garner Magnet High School.He was part of a vocal ensemble in his high school, Die Meistersingers, that perform across the United States.

He started out singing tenor but switched to bass when he voice turned lower in his sophomore year.He won a country radio station singing contest called "Clayton Idol",and was one of 36 finalists in a "Rip the Hallways" contest featuring teenage vocalists in North Carolina.He has performed at various local events.

Scotty McCreery is a Top 13 finalist on the tenth season of American Idol. Born in Garner, North Carolina, he auditioned in Milwaukee. A junior student at Garner Magnet High School, he began playing the guitar at fifth grade. He also plays baseball.
