Ford has extended the first official pictures of the new police car. It is built on the base model Taurus and will replace the legendary "policy-punishment" Ford Crown Victoria, is the main vehicle of American police officers for the past 17 years. Premiere car to the public on Friday in Las Vegas.
Specifications police Ford Taurus has not yet reported. According to preliminary data, the car will be delivered in two versions: front-wheel drive with an atmospheric 3.5-liter, six and four-wheel drive and equipped with a 365-horsepower six-cylinder EcoBoost engine family of similar volume turbocharged and direct fuel injection. As previously reported, the development of a new "policy-car" attended by members of a special supervisory board, which includes representatives of major U.S. police departments. Despite the fact that "Victoria" is outdated, administering police garages believe that Crown Victoria is much better suited to the needs of the police than the Taurus. First, the "Victorian" have the frame structure, which makes them more reliable and robust for the "rams" during the arrest of criminals, and secondly, the machines easier to maintain. They do not need, as in the case of Taurus, the purchase of new equipment and retraining of personnel.
In the year of U.S. police bought about 75 thousand of specialized vehicles, most of which accounted for the Crown Victoria. Production of this model, Ford intends to terminate in September 2011.
