Toyota Japan has launched the redesigned Toyota Mark X which comes with a new 3.5-litre V6 engine. Exterior design highlights include a wide front bumper opening, a sporty mesh front grille, a three-lamp layout for the taillights and expansive front and rear pillars.
The smallest engine is a 2.5-litre V6 petrol which is said to achieve a 0 - 100km/h time of 8.4 seconds and a fuel efficiency rating of 13km/l (7.7 l/100km or 49.2 mpg US) for the rear-wheel-drive models. The 3.5-litre V6 is said to be strong and smooth, as well as fuel efficient.
Safety features include seven airbags, a Pre-Crash Safety System, an Adaptive Front-lighting System, Radar Cruise Control and Hill-start Assist Control. Toyota says the car's 480 litre boot can swallow up four golf bags.
The interior has equipment such as an HDD navigation system with Map on Demand and Intelligent Parking Assist system while the more premium models are fitted with a built-in terrestrial digital TV tuner and 12 speakers among others.
Prices for the Mark X start at ¥2.38 million (€17,594) for the baseline 250G F Package and go up to ¥3.8 million (€28,091) for the 350S Premium.
