Unlike the VR6 model, sold in Europe and USA, which had a 3.2 V6 engine with 240 horsepower and all wheel drive, the Golf has won a £ 2.0 turbo propeller. The European version, which is already for sale, produces 270 bhp and 35.6 lb.-ft. of torque, driven by the system of 4Motion all-wheel drive, making the Golf R a direct competitor to the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

The six-speed manual transmission is the sole, and an ESP (stability control) modified. Additional information about the release date were not disclosed, but there is little evidence that the Golf R will make its first appearance in Detroit.
