Chevrolet shows off drop-top Camaro Convertible now red and Live
The lid’s been lifted on the new Camaro Convertible! Set to go on sale in the US next February, the drop-top Camaro debuts at the LA Auto Show this week.
Taking the existing US muscle coupe as a base, Chevrolet has removed the roof and added a simple canvas folding top which retracts in 20 seconds. The firm has also added strategic bracing to chassis to increase strength, which means the Convertible tips the scales at 121kg heavier than the Coupe, at 1,808kg in its lightest form.
The engine range will feature an entry-level 308bhp 3.6-litre V6 and a 420bhp 6.2-litre V8 in the SS model. All cars come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but an automatic will be available as an option. The Convertible will start at ,000 (approx £18,700) when it goes on sale next year.
UK buyers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on a slice of American muscle. UK imports of the coupe Camaro begin in the first half of next year.
